What is an energy calc ?

An energy calculation or heat load calculation determines how much heating and cooling a home requires. You will use this information to establish the precise sizing of your HVAC system. An Energy Calculation will look at your windows, walls, ceiling insulation, roof, floors and doors to determine the correct tonnage and efficiency your HVAC system should have. Additionally, an energy calc will also point out the area in your home where it may fall short of energy efficiency.

Who needs an energy calc ?

Home Owners, HVAC Contractors, General Contractors, Engineers, architects or any professional involved within the construction industry in the state of Florida needs an energy calculation. All new homes that require permitting, require energy calculations. Existing homes with changes to the AC system, duct work, etc, may also use an energy calculation to determine proper system sizing.

Forms you will receive

With your energy calculation you will receive the following :

  • A Cover Page

  • An EPL Display Card

  • A R405-2017 Energy Efficiency Calculations

  • Checklists and Mandatory Requirements

  • Envelope Leakage Page for Blower Door Testing

  • Duct Leakage Form if required

  • Manual S and J Calculations

What information do we need from you ?

You can upload a PDF of your blueprints here! If no blueprints are available, contact us directly and we’ll be happy to assist you!

What is a Duct Layout ?

Using the information from our Manual J & S (load and sizing) calculations, we can then design an efficient duct layout for your building project. A Manual D will determine the most efficient duct layout and is required by most building codes. Use a Manual D to eliminate temperature differentials throughout your building. Contact us for more information regarding duct layouts.
